Increase in Parking Permit Fees
KENTFIELD, CA—July 1, 2014—As of today daily parking permits at both the Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses will increase from $3 per day to $4 per day and are required Monday–Saturday, no charge on Sundays and school holidays. Fall and spring semester parking permits will increase from $40 to $50; summer semester parking permits remain at $25. Fees from parking permits will continue to support maintenance and operations of the parking lots. Beyond infrastructure related repairs the parking fees support the operations of the College of Marin Police Department, which includes sworn police officers, non-sworn public service officers, and the cadet program. The additional revenue will be used by the College in four ways that will be phased in over time.
All students will now be able to get their permits online without being charged a processing fee, as was past practice. The fee for purchasing permits online will be absorbed by the District. New LED lights will be installed over the fall semester at both the Indian Valley and Kentfield Campuses, replacing the current amber lighting. The LED lights provide a more safe and secure environment for students and community members on campus during evening hours. Over the next couple of years parking lots will be sealed and re-striped to provide more efficient use of existing parking lots. Repairs to curbs will also be made during this process. The District also plans to install speed bumps to slow down vehicles driving through campus lots. The hope is that this will help prevent accidents and result in another way that the campuses are made safer for students and the community as they walk across campus.
Semester permits are only available for purchase online.
