The widest-ranging and easiest-to-use online collection on African American life ever assembled, The African American Experience is the definitive electronic research tool for African American history and culture from one of the most respected publishers in the field. The two primary goals: to provide rock-solid information from authorities in the field, and to allow African Americans to speak for themselves through a wealth of primary sources. Drawing on over 300 titles, and designed under the guidance of leading librarians, this database gives voice to the black experience from its African origins to the present day.

Books in Print

Books in Print, the leading publication of R.R. Bowker, provides the most comprehensive collection of information available today on the vast U.S. book publishing industry. Books in Print contains over 1.5 million active bindings of all varieties - adult, juvenile, popular, scholarly and reprints - with more than 77,000 subject headings by which to search. Nearly 50,000 publisher, wholesaler, and distributor profiles are included in the Publishers Directory. Books Out of Print enables the searcher to verify the status of 900,000 titles that have moved into an "out of Print" or "out of stock indefinitely" status from 1979 to the present. The Books in Print database includes: Books in Print; Books in Print Supplement; Subject Guide to Books in Print; Paperbound Books in Print; Books Out of Print; Forthcoming Books; Children's Books in Print; Subject Guide to Children's Books in Print; Publishers Directory; and, Book Reviews. Includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and the Britannica Book of the Year. Can be used to search an Internet directory that includes more than 130,000 links to web sites, selected, rated, and reviewed by Britannica editors.

Communication & Mass Media Complete

Communication & Mass Media Complete (CMMC) offers cover-to-cover ("core") indexing and abstracts for more than 420 journals, and selected ("priority") coverage of nearly 200 more, for a combined coverage of more than 600 titles. The CMMC database includes full-text for over 300 journals. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable cited references from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915). CMMC contains a sophisticated Communication Thesaurus and comprehensive reference browsing (i.e. searchable cited references for peer-reviewed journals covered as "core"). In addition, CMMC features over 3,000 Author Profiles, providing biographical data and bibliographic information, and covering the most prolific, most cited, and most frequently searched for authors in the database.

Consumer Health Complete (CHC) provides content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic, and integrated medicine. History Study Center is an online resource providing a vast collection of digitized primary and secondary sources for the study of history. It is suitable for a wide range of users, from high school students looking for quick and reliable facts on a historical topic, to researchers examining hard-to-find primary source texts.
