COM Equity Summit

9 am  – 1 pm

College of Marin will host its first ever (or at least that I know of!) Equity Summit featuring none other than our own equity initiatives. For some time I have thought that we needed to come together to ensure we are all paddling in the same direction as it relates to our important equity work on behalf of our students and community. Please recall that Equity is one of the major focus areas in our Educational Master Plan and Strategic Plan.

This will not be a convening where we will use the time for any particular professional development or learning – rather I see this opportunity to hear directly from each group or individuals about the initiatives they have in play or that are in the pipeline. Each of the groups identified below will be allotted up to 15 minutes to cover the following:

  • Equity initiative – Areas of focus/scope
  • Alignment with Educational Master Plan/Strategic Plan
  • Number of students and/or employees who are served or involved
  • Existing resources allocated
  • Additional resources needed
  • Alignment with other initiatives and programs
  • Highlights and/or accomplishments
  • Greatest challenges
  • Vision and future directions
  • Opportunities for collaboration and support

The schedule of presentations which were randomly determined. The session will be recorded. I hope you will consider joining us for some or all of the summit depending on your work obligations.
