Film Screening of Dirt Rich

Dirt Rich - Social Media

Join the City of Novato, and community partners Sustainable Novato, Marin Conservation League, College of Marin and the Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden for a screening of the film Dirt Rich on May 31 at Novato City Hall.

Dirt Rich makes the case for shifting our focus from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to carbon sequestration as a means to rapidly reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.

Through regenerative agricultural practices, reforestation programs, restoration of carbon-rich wetlands and protection of keystone species, Dirt Rich illustrates how these strategies can return our atmosphere to safe levels of carbon, while at the same time growing soil–our most precious resource.

In addition to being the earth’s largest ‘carbon sink’, the soil ecosystem maintains about 99 percent of the living biomass on the planet and regulates atmospheric chemistry, global climate, sea level, and water supplies.

This beautiful, endearing, and insightful documentary provides concrete examples of ecosystem regeneration as a means to capture carbon and replenish degraded environments.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmaker Marcy Cravat, Johnny Campbell (Farm Manager at College of Marin’s Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden) and a carbon farming expert from the Carbon Cycle Institute.
