Panel featuring TAY Radio Marin
Facilitated by Professor Ismael Rey Lara
Join us for a panel discussion on the San Rafael Police Department's July 2022 beating of Mateo and the ongoing history and impact of over-policing, police brutality, state violence, and systemic racism in the Latinx community. The goal of the event is to create a space to amplify the concerns and needs of the Marin Latinx Community, specifically the Canal, tied to police brutality and policing in the case of the police beating of Mateo.
Professor Ismael Lara will facilitate the conversation with panelists from Tay Radio Marin and members of the Latinx community. Spanish/English translation services available. Refreshments will be provided.
Co-sponsored by Psychological Services, Puente, Mi Familia, and the Umoja Equity Institute. This event aligns with themes in College of Marin's COMmon Read for the 2022-2023 academic year: The 1619 Project.
