Meet a Scientist: Danielle E. White

As part of Black History Month, the STEM Center is hosting Ms. Danielle White for a conversation about science and being a Black scientist. Please join us on Friday, February 19, at noon.

Danielle E. White is a second year, Materials Science PhD student under the advisement of Dr. Andrea M. Hodge at the University of Southern California. Originally from Massachusetts, she moved to the South to earn her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Danielle’s current project entails nanomultilayers, which are a group of composite materials with extremely thin layers. The research itself requires the design and tailoring of these multilayers for functions at the cross-section of optics and mechanics.

To enhance her graduate school experience, Danielle often volunteers with the USC K-12 STEM Center and the National Society of Black Engineers, bonds with her church’s young adult ministry, and creates art.
