Course Audit

Audit Registration Request Requirements:

  • Students must have taken the course first for college credit and earned a passing grade.
  • The course must be auditable; a list of auditable courses can be found on the course audit page. Enrollment Services does not determine which courses are auditable, audit availability is determined by the courses department. 
  • If the course is part of a sequence, students must complete the entire sequence first before requesting to audit. 
  • Students must have permission from the faculty to audit a course; this permission will be given to students in the form of an add authorization code. Enrollment Services does not provide the add authorization codes. Faculty have the right to decide whether to allow auditors into their courses, when auditors may add their course and how many they will allow. 

COM Audit Policy:

In conformity with education Code 76370, College of Marin has adopted a policy of auditing classes. Please see AP 4070-Auditing for the policy details. Audit registration fees can be found on our tuition and fees webpage.

When Can Students Register:

Eligible auditors may register and attend a course only after the first week of instruction in order for a course to give priority to students registering for credit. If students submit a request to audit before the registration date, the request will be on hold until audit registration begins. If a request to audit is submitted on or after the registration date, it can take up to 4 business days to process. Students’ eligibility to audit will be checked at the time of registration. Students should make sure they meet the eligibility requirements prior to submitting their request to avoid delays with the audit enrollment request.
