Join the Umoja Equity Institute and the Umoja Learning Community to honor and celebrate the prolific art, revolutionary spirit, and ongoing social justice work of world-renowned graphic artist Dr. Emory Douglas upon the opening of his permanent collection at College of Marin. The evening will feature speakers, live music, refreshments, and an opportunity to view the collection. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Emory Douglas is the Veteran Revolutionary Artist and Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party. His iconic artwork, which appeared on the covers and pages of the Black Panther Newspaper, was the visual mouthpiece and cultural aesthetic of Black Panther Party, its politics, and programs. Dr. Douglas is a working artist who continues to create powerful political art that reflects the urgency of global struggles for social justice and serves as an inspiring call for solidarity, resistance, and liberation among oppressed and colonized peoples around the world.
